Paris, Delaunay, 1827. 2 vols., in-8, [4]-XXIV-514 and [4]-506 pp., brown half-basane, plain spine, gilt fillets (contemporary binding). Spine rubbed, foxing. The first edition was published in 1819: the amendments made by the author in the wake of the economic crisis of 1820–1825 render it a work substantially different from the original. The work had a significant influence on the views developed by Malthus in his *Political Economy*.
