A Refutation of Calvin’s Heresy, based solely on the doctrine of the Members of the R.P.R., to strengthen the New Converts in the Faith of the Catholic Church beyond all doubt [...] Paris, Antoine Lambin, 1687. In-12, contemporary ivory-coloured vellum. A rare edition of this religious justification of the violent royal repression against the religious dissidents who were victims of the revocation of the Edict of Nantes two years earlier. Allegorical frontispiece in honour of Louis XIV and a banner (depicting the Good Shepherd) engraved at the head of the epistle, repeated on pp. 119 and 207. (Barbier IV, 178.) Antique bookplate (dated 1692) on the flyleaf (Jacques de Lïïsner or Lusyner? Orléans). Handwritten bookplate of the Grainville Hospital on the title page.
