Description
[Petite Église]. A collection of 8 writings. (A detailed list of the works is available on request.)
The term ‘Petite Église’ refers to the Catholic communities that successively rejected the Civil Constitution of the Clergy (1790) and, subsequently, the Concordat of 1801 concluded between Bonaparte and Pope Pius VII. With a following of around 90,000 in the 19th century, they still survive today in a few localities (Deux-Sèvres, Lyonnais, Aveyron, Brittany, Saône-et-Loire, Belgium), where, despite the absence of priests since 1852, they continue to practise a liturgy inspired by the Catholic Mass.
