Dance of Death – HOLBEIN (Hans). The Dance of Death, drawn by Hans Holbein, engraved on stone by Joseph Schlotthauer [...] with an explanation by Hippolyte Fortoul. Paris, Labitte, undated (1842). In-12, half-green vellum with small corners, smooth spine richly decorated with gilded rocaille metalwork, title label in black morocco (contemporary binding). 252-[1] pp. with a series of 53 engravings by Holbein based on the *Simulhacres de la mort* of 1538 and the Basel edition of 1554, lithographed with pen and printed on applied China paper. Slight splitting at the joints, otherwise a very fine copy.
