The First (The Second – The Third) volume of *Illustrations of Gaul and Belgium, antiquities of the region of Haynnau and of the great city of Belges, now known as Bavay, from which the roads to Brunehault originate. And of several princes. up to Duke Philip of Burgundy, who died most recently. Paris, François Regnault, Galiot du Pré, 1531–1532. 3 volumes in 1 Gothic folio volume, in two columns, comprising (8)–142 ff.; (4)-82 ff.; (6)-108 ff., (marked [-]2, ã6, a8, b-y6, z8; e4, A-N6, o4; a6, A-S6), hard vellum (contemporary binding) First edition printed in Gothic type by François Regnault for Volume I and by Galiot du Pré for Volumes II and III. Translated and abridged by Jacques de Leussauch (known as Lessabée) from the original Latin manuscript by Jacques de Guise, *Annales historiae illustrium principum Hannoniae*, commissioned by Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, which constitutes the first chronicle of the Belgian provinces and neighbouring countries: France, Germany, Denmark, Scotland and England. The fourth volume was never published. The three titles feature a portico-style border signed by Galiot du Pré, the first two in red and black. Printers’ marks: François Regnault on the reverse of the last leaf of volume 1 and Galiot du Pré on the reverse of the last leaf of volume 3. Initial letters and three woodcuts in the text: a) full-page, on the front of the second leaf: in a room at the Palace, the Author presenting his book to Philip the Good; b) and c) in the third volume, a small illustration of the Author writing his book (vignette) and the King in Parliament, surmounted by a battle scene (full-page).
