Magazine – *Le Guide des dames*. A leading journal of fashion and art. Paris, Daydou fils, January and February 1897. 2 issues in large folio format (450 x 322 mm), 4 unnumbered folios; 12 pages. Paperback, with a colour-illustrated cover. A few small foxing spots in the second issue. A very rare luxury fashion journal, published by the publisher of *Paris-toilettes* and *Succès*. The illustrations comprise 8 beautiful lithographed and colour-enhanced fashion plates, 4 detail plates in bistre, 4 full-page black-and-white reproductions (photographs of Mademoiselle Labatoux of the Opéra, the Thouard family and two statuettes by Capellaro and Germain), as well as several drawings accompanying the texts signed by Richard Colas, Hettich, Countess Liliane, Pierre de Lardenne, Violette de Parme… No library appears to hold this title, which is unknown to Colas. A fine copy.
