[LEROUX (Pierre-Albert)]. The French Army Through the Ages: Its Traditions, Its Glories, Its Uniforms. Paris, Société des Éditions Militaires, 1929–1931. 4 vols., in-4, red morocco, covers inlaid with strips of blue, white and red morocco, gilt fillets, spine similarly decorated, blue morocco strip and gilt fillet framing the inner edge, red tabis endpapers, gilt edges (Charles Benoit). One of 15 copies on Japanese paper, including a set of engravings all signed by Leroux. *La Cavalerie*, by General Brécard; *l’Artillerie*, by General Vidal; *les Chasseurs à Pied*, by Colonel Payard; *l’Infanterie*, by General de Fonclare. Each volume is illustrated with 20 colour plates by Pierre-Albert Leroux, as well as the complete set of 20 plates, totalling 160 signed plates. Printed in a run of 515 numbered copies. The volume on the Cavalry was printed in a run of 600 copies. A magnificent copy in a tricolour mosaic binding by Charles Benoit.
