ALMBERT (Alfred d'). Physiology of the Duel. Paris, Amyot, 1867. In-8, green half-shagreen, smooth spine with decoration, gilt title (contemporary binding). Spine sun-faded, some scuffing. First French edition published after the very rare original Belgian edition (1853). Pronounced foxing in places. Alfred d’Almbert (1813–1887), private secretary to Prince Louis Napoléon Bonaparte and an accomplice in the Boulogne expedition, is best known as a playwright.
