Robert Heddle-Roboth (1925–2013), a French fencing master, first taught competitive fencing in Oran, where he trained several champions, before working at the Paris Université Club and then at the ACBB. He went on to become one of the leading figures in artistic and theatrical fencing, teaching notably at the ENSATT, the Théâtre National de Chaillot and Marcel Marceau’s school, and training numerous actors including Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas, Jacques Weber and Patrick Dewaere, helping to establish the recognition of ‘a different kind of fencing’ dedicated to the performing arts.
