LEWAL (General). Fencing and its New Requirements. Paris, E. Dentu, 1891. In-12, burgundy half-maroquin with corner caps, ribbed spine with decoration, gilt title, date at the foot. First edition of this important work by J. Lewal, who won the Bischoffsheim Prize in 1890 with his book *L’Agnostique*. This work on physical exercise was read at the time by Pierre de Coubertin, who was then in the midst of planning the revival of the modern Olympic Games.
