VAUX (Arthur Devaux, known as the Baron de). *Les Duels célèbres*. Preface by Aurélien Scholl. Paris, Rouveyre & Blond, 1884. In-8, green half-shagreen, spine with gold-threaded raised bands, gilt title, original colour-illustrated cover preserved (contemporary binding). Spine sun-faded to a tan colour, a few minor scuffs. First edition illustrated with 16 plates printed separately on laid paper. Printed in a run of 650 copies; this unnumbered copy is on laid paper. A fine author’s signed copy (E.A.S.) presented to the writer Arsène HOUSSAYE, with a handwritten footnote by the latter on page 26. Includes a handwritten letter (L.A.S.) from Storm, dated 21 June 1931. Large modern bookplate by G. Menuge-Crepeaux.
