Manuscript by A.ne B..r..t, his son, [c. 1870]. Manuscript in-8 (24 x 16 cm) comprising (4) ff. 458–(9) pp., 23 lines per page, fawn half-calf, smooth spine with decoration, title label in red morocco (contemporary binding) Unpublished memoirs of Dominique François Beaufort, born in 1773 in the Dauphiné, a hat-maker and conscript during the Revolution. These memoirs, rich in detail about the life of a craftsman during the Revolution and the Empire, also offer a valuable account of agricultural practices, warfare and the learning of a trade during that period. Precious, previously unpublished memoirs intended for his children and illustrated with a hand-drawn topographical map of the Grésivaudan Valley in the Dauphiné region, dated 1829.
