ALLONVILLE (Armand-François, Count of). Memoirs drawn from the papers of a statesman, on the secret causes that determined the policy of the cabinets during the War of the Revolution. Armand François d’Allonville (1764–1853), a military officer and émigré, spent some twenty years in Russia ‘He was the tutor to the children of Count Fyodor Rostopchin, a Russian general, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and subsequently Governor-General of Moscow from 1812 to 1814, whose wife was the Countess de Ségur (...)
