Set of 3 large cardboard sheets (38.5 x 30.5 cm) featuring 35 mounted photographic prints: 28 portraits of the key figures of the Paris Commune period (Gambetta, Thiers, Trochu, Rigault, Courbet, Delescluze, etc.), 2 landscapes and 5 views of the ruins of Parisian monuments, with captions and historical notes handwritten in brown ink in English. No place, late 19th century. The final plate is a copy of an eyewitness account of Paris in ruins, written by a certain Rogers or Roger: “Rogers’ diary contains a full account of his visit and he brought me the photographs which appear in the book”.
