In-8, [4]-399 pp., light-coloured half-basane, plain spine with decoration (contemporary binding). Slight wear to the top cap, but a fine copy. A rare first French translation of what became a classic work on educational reform in England. ‘ Knox (1752–1821), ‘Master’ of Turnbridge School, takes a strong stand in favour of ‘public’ education over private education (private tuition), and sets out, for each subject, the best ways to engage pupils in their learning.”
