Daily record of what was discussed and decided in the chamber and assembly of the Third Estate of France at the General Assembly of the Three Estates, first convened by the King in the town of Sens on 17 September 1614, and subsequently transferred by His Majesty on 17 October of the same year to the city of Paris. II. Edict of July 1618 drawn up on the basis of the records of the Estates kept in Paris in the year 1615 and those of the Assembly of Notables held in Rouen in the year 1617. III. (16) ff., fawn calfskin, decorated ribbed spine, double gilt fillet framing the covers, frieze on the edges, marbled edges (contemporary binding) An important manuscript collection compiled during the Fronde, bringing together in particular the ‘Recueil journalier’ of the Estates General of 1614, attributed to Jacques des Essarts—a valuable contemporary account of that assembly—as well as Guillaume Du Vair’s reform edict (1618), the provisions of which were largely incorporated into the Code Michau of 1629. A rare manuscript archive document concerning the last Estates General prior to 1789, which was consulted and annotated in its day (old handwriting in the margins up to and including folio 24). Gills, caps and raised bands have been discreetly restored. A fine copy.
