Description
FÉLINE (Adrien-Benjamin). Political pamphlets. I. 1818–1837. – II. 1839–1844 [actually: 1860]. Paris, 1818–1860. 32 items in 2 vols., 8vo, brown morocco, ribbed spine, gilt heads, wide interior lace (Dupré). Ribs slightly rubbed, but a fine copy. An exceptional collector’s collection, bringing together most of the political pamphlets and leaflets by Adrien-Benjamin Féline (1793–1863), a former student of the École Polytechnique, a supporter of Louis XVIII during the Hundred Days, who later joined the liberal ranks under the July Monarchy. (Details of the items available on request.) The collection was assembled by a close associate of Féline; it is tempting to assume it was the author himself, given that the spines bear the gilt initials ‘A.F.’ at the bottom. However, the inclusion of the two obituaries contradicts this theory.
