Fronde – [MORGUES (Mathieu de)]. Curious Essays, following on from those of Monsieur de S. Germain, containing several essays in defence of the Queen Mother of the Most Christian King Louis XIII and other treatises on state affairs relating to the events of the time, from the year 1630 to the year 1643, by various authors. Based on the copy printed in Antwerp, 1644. Small quarto, brown calfskin, decorated ribbed spine (contemporary binding). Volume 2 alone contains 35 treatises. One of these is illustrated with 13 engraved emblems. A fine copy.
