[MANCINI (Marie)]. The Memoirs of M. L. P. M.M. Colonne, Constable of the Kingdom of Naples. Cologne, Marteau, 1677. [1] 148 pp. Second edition of these apocryphal memoirs. Bound together with: - [BOUDIN (Mme)] The intrigues of Molière and those of his wife. No place. [1] 88 pp. The only edition of this rare and curious work. It is not a pamphlet against Molière, but a portrait of his wife’s character which does not seem overly exaggerated and is not without merit. A better-known and more common pamphlet than this one was published in Frankfurt in 1688 under the title *La fameuse comédienne* and reprinted several times; this is the one referred to by Bazin in his excellent essay on Molière. There are similarities, but it is not the same book, and despite the contrary opinion of Barbier and Brunet, this is indeed the original. It contains the errors refuted by Bazin concerning the Abbé de Richelieu, the Count of Lauzun and the Count of Guiche, but not the accusations at which the astute critic takes such offence (Molière and Baron). This pamphlet must have been written by an actor. It is attributed to Gricourt and to an actress named Boudin. - [Anonymous].
