Description
DENIS (Louis). *Géographie des dames*, or *Geographical and Historical Almanac*, containing everything one needs to know about modern geography. Paris: Pasquier, Denis, 1762. In-32, red morocco, plain decorated spine, brown morocco title label, fillets framing the covers, gilt edges (contemporary binding). The volume comprises (4) folios of engravings (title page, preface and dedication), (4) folios (calendar and dates of movable feasts from 1762 to 1773), 16 printed and coloured pages on astronomy, climates and meridians, 2 double-sided maps on a single sheet (the two hemispheres), 13 double-page maps (continents and countries of Europe), a large map of the Paris area comprising 23 sheets plus the assembly map, and 56 pp. containing geographical information and an index of major cities. A fine copy in contemporary red morocco, with all the maps and globes beautifully coloured at the time.
