In-8, brown half-calf, smooth spine with gold fillet, gilt title (contemporary binding).
“68 issues with different titles, such as Political Gossip, Inexorable Gossip, Indomitable Gossip, Persecuted Gossip, Gossip in Prison, etc. This pamphlet was indeed the subject of numerous legal proceedings, which resulted in the author serving a dozen years in prison and being fined around ten 1,000 francs. In addition to these ‘Cancans’, Bérard published various other pamphlets under a range of titles: *L’Espérance*, *Le Pèlerin*, *Les Perruques*, *Facéties du jour*, etc. Mr Labedoyère owned a collection of 97 issues of these various works” (Hatin 376.)
