673 BIS. LE POIS (Antoine). Treatise on ancient medals and engravings, chiefly Roman. Paris, Mamert Patisson, 1579. Small quarto, gilt vellum, plain gilt spine, double gilt fillet framing the covers, gilt decoration in the centre, gilt edges (contemporary binding). First edition, illustrated with a typographic mark by Robert Estienne on the title page, a magnificent portrait, 20 woodcut medals within the text, 5 full-page plates included in the pagination, and 19 copper-engraved sheets, each containing 8 medallions (out of 20). A total of 48 engravings, in intaglio and woodcut, both within and outside the text. A very fine copy with very wide margins in gilt vellum.
