Nicolas Le Moulinet (born in Sées at the end of the 16th century, died before 1625), writer, lawyer and actor; from an old family of Alençon and a lawyer at the Parliament of Rouen, he was the author of several novels as well as these *Facétieux devis et plaisants contes*, a collection of humorous stories which enjoyed some success. His name was also adopted by Charles Sorel, who published a new version of his *Francion* in 1633 under the pseudonym ‘Nicolas de Moulinet, Sieur du Parc’.
