CORNEILLE (Pierre & Thomas). The Dramatic Masterpieces of Messrs Corneille, with the scholars’ reviews at the end of each play. Oxford, n.p., [c. 1750]. 2 volumes in-4, in contemporary ivory-coloured vellum, ribbed spines, handwritten title. The inner edge of the second cover of the first volume is split. The paper is very light, slightly browned and slightly wavy, with a few rare small pinholes. A fine copy. Volume I, Preface, 384 pp.; Volume II, 382 pp. [1 folio: critique of the tragedy *The Earl of Essex*]. Edition published by J. G. Dupré for Fletcher. One of the rare copies reprinted in quarto format with Berain-style borders on every page. An edition sometimes referred to as the ‘Corneille des dames’ (Picot, 669).
