[FURETIERE (Antoine)]. Written Evidence concerning the facts set out in the trial of Monsieur Furetière and the Members of the Académie Française. Amsterdam, Henry Desbordes, 1688. In-12, [2] ff., 163 pp., with an allegorical frontispiece, and a blank folio between pp. 126 and 127, marbled brown sheepskin, decorated ribbed spine, marbled edges (contemporary binding). Restoration to the cap ends, corners and clamps. First editions, extremely rare. This collection brings together all the legal documents and pamphlets relating to the case of the expulsion of Antoine Furetière (1619–1688) from the Académie Française. Following this: I. Dialogue between Monsieur D. of the Académie Française and Monsieur L.M., Advocate at the Parliament. Undated, 38 pp. – II. A collection of various verses, epigrams and other pieces exchanged between the Abbé Furetière and the members of the Académie Française.
