Description
MARGUERITE of ANGOULEUME (Queen of Navarre). The Seven Days of the Queen of Navarre, followed by the Eighth. (Edited by Claude Gruget, 1559.) Paris, Jouaust, 1872. 4 vols. in-12, blue morocco, ribbed spine richly decorated with gilt panels featuring a crowned ‘M’ and fleurs-de-lis, gilt title and volume number, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, internal dentation, gilt edges on marbled paper (Chambolle-Duru). A small dent on one cover. Portrait and 8 etchings by FLAMENG. Printed in a run of 550 copies; no. 45 of the 25 on Whatman paper, with proofs of the engravings prior to the final print. A very fine copy.
