MAUPASSANT (Guy de). *Fort comme la Mort*. Paris: Société d’éditions littéraires et artistiques, Paul Ollendorff bookshop, 1903. Large 8vo (26.5 x 17 cm), paperback, with a full-colour illustrated cover. A copy with the title on Japanese paper. Illustrations by André BROUILLET, woodcuts by G. LEMOINE. This volume forms part of the Illustrated Complete Works of Maupassant published by Ollendorff between 1901 and 1904: 29 in-12 volumes, to be supplemented by a thirtieth (Misti) in 1912. These volumes were produced in a limited first edition (on China paper, Japanese paper, and vellum) in a re-sized large in-8 format. Tears to the spine, a few scattered light foxing spots. Copy untrimmed and with margins intact.
