Description
AYMÉ (Marcel). *Brûlebois*. Poitiers, Les Cahiers de France, 1926. First series / Nos. 6–7. 12mo, paperback, 172–(3) pp. First edition of Marcel Aymé’s first book. According to Michel Lécureur (Album Aymé, Pléiade), the idea was suggested to him by his sister Camille, who advised him to “write the story of Brûlebois, that gentle drunkard who carried luggage at [Dole] station”.” The book enjoyed some success, which encouraged him to continue in this vein. Print run limited to 3,300 copies. Also included is a copy of *Les quatre vérités*, a paperback bound in esparto grass, first edition, Grasset 1954.
