FOURNIER (Louis-Édouard) & COPPÉE (François). *Le Passant*. A one-act comedy in verse. Paris, Magnier, 1897. Quarto, brown half-maroquin with corner pieces, spine with five raised bands, beautifully decorated, gilt title and gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved (R. Aussourd). A few minor scuffs. Facsimile reproduction of the author’s manuscript and a page of music by J. Massenet, heliogravured by Arents, illustrated with 47 engravings by Louis-Édouard Fournier, etched by Léon Boisson, including the cover, the title page, half-title, colophon, dedication, introduction to the play’s characters, 39 illustrations accompanying the text, the musical score and the ‘printed’ page. Limited edition of 300 copies; this one printed on Japanese paper, here without the colophon, enhanced by a sepia-toned proof on Japanese paper (in the style of ‘avant la lettre’) of all the leaves except the cover. A fine copy.
