In-8, violet half-maroquin with corner pieces, ribbed spine, gilt title, date at the foot, gilt head, cover preserved (Lambert). Spine sun-faded.
This small collection, illustrated by Fernand Khnopff (Belgian Symbolist painter, draughtsman, photographer and engraver, 1858–1921) and Théo VAN RYSSELBERGHE (Belgian painter, an anarchist and one of the leading exponents of Divisionism in Belgium, 1852–1926), and comprising 12 pieces, each selected from a different volume of Verhaeren’s work, was published for the poet’s friends by one of his oldest friends. The frontispiece features a portrait of the author, and the text is embellished with engraved Art Nouveau ornamentation.
Limited edition of 525 copies; no. 235 of 500 on laid paper, hand-numbered. A fine edition, a fine copy.
