Large 8vo (26 x 16.5 cm) with 1 half-title page, 1 illustrated title page, 304-(3) pp. + continuation, green half-maroquin, plain spine, gilt title, date at the foot, illustrated cover (the first in colour) and spine preserved, untrimmed, hinges (A. Devauchelle). First illustrated edition, first print run of the illustrations by René Lelong. One of the 55 reprinted copies; this one is one of the 25 printed on unlined vellum with a supplement on China paper containing all the illustrations. Forms part of the Illustrated Complete Works of Guy de Maupassant. A very fine copy.
