SCHWABE (Carlos) & MENDÈS (Catulle). The Gospel of the Infancy of Our Lord Jesus Christ according to Saint Peter, translated into French by Catulle Mendès from the manuscript of Saint Wolfgang Abbey. Paris, Armand Colin, undated [1894]. Quarto, havana half-calf with corner pieces, decorated ribbed spine, title label and volume number, double gilt line (contemporary binding). A fine edition, with every page featuring Art Nouveau-style colour compositions and illustrations by Carlos Schwabe: 14 full-page illustrations, 9 pages with bistre borders, 13 compositions surrounding the text, and 83 floral borders, some of which are repeated. A few pinholes on the edge; otherwise a fine, unnumbered copy from the standard print run (following a deluxe edition limited to 150 numbered copies).
