VERTÈS (Marcel) & LOUYS (Pierre). The Adventures of King Pausole. Paris, Published at the expense of an enthusiast [Léon Givaudan], 1930. A substantial large quarto volume, in folio format, with a printed cover bearing the initial ‘P’ in gold and crowned, a vellum spine cover and a slipcase. An illustrated edition featuring 74 original drypoint engravings by Vertès. Limited edition of 99 copies on vellum bearing the ‘Pausole & Vertès’ watermark (copy no. 6), containing the SERIES of copperplate engravings with notes, as well as a series of the 15 REJECTED PLATES. This copy is enhanced with 32 full-page ORIGINAL INK SKETCHES, one of which is signed, on fine paper mounted on heavy paper. The slipcase is slightly scuffed; there are small stains on the cover, small tears and small brown stains on the front cover, one restoration and a few minor defects in the margins of the sketches.
