Description
ISOU (Isidore). The Lettrists are beyond redemption until the society of concrete, paradisiacal eternity. Paris, Jannink, 2005. In-8 (21 x 12.5 cm), paperback, 48 pp., printed and filled dust jacket, slipcase. First independent edition. Copy no. 17 of the limited first print run, accompanied by an ORIGINAL WORK of inter-participation consisting of a photograph torn by the author and inserted into an envelope. Volume no. 63 of the ‘L’art en écrit’ collection. Isidore Isou (1925–2007) founded Lettrism in 1946 as a movement seeking to establish a new aesthetic free from the rules of poetry and art. An early handwritten version of this text was exhibited at the 1978 Salon de la Jeune Peinture. The final version was published in 1978 in the journal *La Novation* (issues 9–10) and subsequently reprinted by Rolland Sabatier (Z’éditions, 1989, and as part of a proposed contribution to the 1993 Venice Biennale). This edition is the first standalone publication of the work.
