ARMAN (Armand Pierre Fernandez, known as). Passe temps. Geneva, Éditions Rousseau, 1971. Large square folio in the artist’s plexiglass slipcase (40.5 x 40 x 8 cm) containing, separately, a sheet, also in Plexiglas, featuring a collage of scattered pocket-watch parts as an inclusion, entitled ‘Colère de montres’, signed and dated (bottom right). 10 sections of 4 sheets (8 pages) entirely screen-printed, plus a single sheet with two screen-prints; the final section bearing the book’s colophon and the artist’s signature; the whole bound in an illustrated, padded cover and a white imitation-leather cardboard slipcase. An art book of which 200 numbered copies were printed: 10 HC copies, 40 artist’s copies numbered EA and 150 copies, all signed by the artist. Copy no. 8 HC, a gift to Sophie de Vilmorin from André Malraux, who was her partner from 1970 to 1976 and to whom Arman had given this copy. Enclosed is a paperback edition of *Aimer encore* by Sophie de Vilmorin, which recounts the final years of General de Gaulle’s former Minister of Culture that she spent with him.
