Ceramics – MAZE (Alphonse). Notes of a Collector. Research on Ceramics, a Chronological and Historical Overview, including marks, monograms, etc. Paris, Société française de Numismatique et d'Archéologie, 1870. Quarto, 278 pp., with illustrations in the text and 29 plates of photographic prints mounted on heavy paper and attached to tabs, half-basane with corner caps, ribbed spine decorated at the head and foot, cold-stamped lace on the covers, gilt head (contemporary binding). Binding slightly rubbed, a few plates detached from their tabs. Collection (Mémoires de la Société française de Numismatique et d’Archéologie). An interesting monograph, of particular value for its catalogue of marks and monograms (in the text), as well as for the 29 plates of photographs produced by Goupil, reproducing 144 pieces from all periods (including numerous examples of Norman pottery).
