Description
[Hairdressing]. Laws, letters patent and edict concerning wigmakers. 1765–1792. Three double-leaf sheets and a booklet of 4 ff. in large 8vo format, unbound. Set of 4 documents: - Royal Edict establishing thirty-four posts for Barbers, Wigmakers, Bath Attendants and Steam Room Attendants in the city of Paris, issued at Versailles in April 1765 (Paris, Royal Printing Office, 1765). - Letters Patent from the King in favour of wigmakers in the Provinces of the Kingdom, dated 12 December 1772 (Bordeaux, Chappuis, undated). Some water-stains in the margins on two booklets, a few smudges and ink markings; otherwise a good set.
