Oblong folio (32 x 25.2 cm), (2)-43 pp. Publisher’s hardback album, cloth-bound spine, covers illustrated in two colours (yellow and black). First edition. A panorama of military exploits from antiquity to the First World War, placing the heroism of the Poilus within the legacy of their illustrious predecessors. Each page is illustrated with long bands depicting military scenes in silhouette. These reproduce the glass slides that were projected at the front, in camps and behind the lines, to raise funds for war efforts and aid for the wounded. Pinholes on the cover, inner hinge split; otherwise a good copy.
