[MEADOWS (Joseph Kenny)]. The English as Depicted by Themselves. First series. No place, no date. A set of 70 plates, stapled, with an illustrated cover. Engraved title page illustrated by GAVARNI, pasted onto the front cover; 70 wood-engraved plates, each with a title, unsigned except for one—which is inverted—by Gavarni, and one with an indecipherable signature. Joseph Kenny MEADOWS is the artist behind the drawings in this work of satirical caricature, published in 2 vols. (Paris, Curmer, 1840–1841) and comprising a total of 98 engraved plates.
