Description
GENLIS (Stéphanie-Félicité Du Crest, Countess of). Autograph letter addressed to her grandson, Anatole de La Woestine, future general. [1819]. A letter of 2 pp., in-12 format, undated and unsigned, the authenticity of which is certified at the end by the addressee. Letter written by Madame de Genlis to her grandson, Anatole Charles Alexis de Becelaere et de La Woestine, son of her eldest daughter, Caroline, who died giving birth to him in 1786. As her book *Les Parvenus ou Les Aventures de Julien Delmours* had just been published by Casimir Baecker (her adopted son), she sent him one of the copies on vellum: “there are only five in total, which are going to you and to the Royal Palace.” The letter also mentions General Sébastiani, to whom Madame de Genlis would send the “little books” she intended for her grandson. She asks her grandson to keep her informed of his news: “Tell me about your affairs, give me some errands to run, love me and think of your old grandmother from time to time…”.
