Description
LONGINES SAVONETTE WATCH Serial number: 5041958. 18k yellow gold case. Coat of arms engraved on the outer bezel. Light grey dial with Arabic numerals. Hand-wound mechanical movement (calibre 9.47N). Leather strap with a yellow gold pin buckle signed Gay Frères. Mineral crystal. Circa 1931. Dimensions: 24 x 40 mm. Gross weight: 50.8 g. Accompanied by an extract from the Longines archives and its original case. An 18k gold wristwatch with a mechanical movement, by Longines. Circa 1931. This savonette watch was delivered on 24 July 1931 to the Zivy company, one of the manufacturer’s agents in Mexico. This watch bears the coat of arms of the House of Karađorđević, notably that of Alexander I, King of Yugoslavia from 1921 to 1934. It is highly likely that this watch was a personal commission by the King himself. An extract from the Longines archives and a copy of the correspondence relating to this watch are provided. Only one other example was sold, also in 1931; it is not specified whether this second watch bore the coat of arms of the House of Karađorđević. Condition: Sold as is, with signs of wear and use. The movement was in working order at the time of writing this description; a routine service is recommended; no warranty is provided.
