Description
PATEK PHILIPPE & CO GENEVA CALATRAVA
18K gold (750 thousandths) wristwatch, silver-coloured dial with sectors, the centre and outer sections featuring vertical embossed silver, the hour ring with a horizontal brushed finish, a black railway-track minute scale and engraved black lines with enamel, engraved baton hour markers with enamel and radium luminescent markings, gold fillet hands, central seconds hand. Clip-on case back in 18K gold (750 thousandths), inscribed on the inside with ‘Patek, Philippe & Co Genève Swiss’, numbered 299692, manufactured by Antoine Gerlach SA (Geneva Key hallmark 4). Hand-wound mechanical movement signed Patek, Philippe & Co, numbered 864620, calibre 12-120SC, marked PXP (probably intended for the American market), with an intermediate wheel train for the small seconds. Brown leather strap with a gold-plated metal pin buckle. The watch was in working order at the time of the appraisal; however, no guarantee is given as to its future operation or the condition of its components. Scratches on the case; the dial has been cleaned. No archive extract was provided for this watch, probably because the watch was originally fitted with luminescent hands which were swapped for the current hands, or perhaps because the case back or movement was replaced in the years that followed (this calibre was replaced by the 27SC in 1949).
