CHINA, 19th and early 20th centuries. A set of sixteen blue-and-white porcelain pieces, known as ‘Hue’ porcelain, with rims edged in silver-plated metal, comprising:
Two bowls decorated with phoenixes, marked ‘Noi Phu’ on the bases; two small plates decorated with phoenixes, marked ‘Noi Phu’; eight saucers, five of which are decorated with the seven sages in the bamboo forest, the other three with scholars, some bases marked ‘Kangxi’; four goblets decorated with the four sages, marked ‘Noi Phu’.

Diameter: 11.8 cm to 13.2 cm – Height of goblet: 4 cm
Provenance: Passed down through the generations from a family of pharmacists from the Besançon region, who lived in Shanghai and then in Indochina between the 1920s and 1940s.
