Description
CHINA, early 20th century. A set of twelve porcelain pieces decorated with ‘Famille Rose’ enamels on a yellow ground, comprising ten bowls, nine of which are identical and adorned with four auspicious characters amidst coloquintes, the tenth decorated with floral reserves and bats on the interior, bearing a Qianlong mark on the foot; two bowls, one with a similar decoration and the other with a related design on the interior, both bearing Guangxu marks on the feet.
(A small chip on four of the bowls).
Dimensions of bowls: 5.8 x 12.2 cm – Diameter of cups: 15.8 and 18.7 cm
A flat cup with a Cambodian-style decoration is included. Diameter 18.3 cm
Provenance: By descent from a family of pharmacists from the Besançon region, who lived in Shanghai and then in Indochina in the 1920s–1940s.
