Description
CHINA, Guangxu period, late 19th–early 20th century. A set of eight ‘Famille Rose’ porcelain pieces, comprising a cup on a pedestal, a soup plate and six goblets, with slightly different decorations featuring bats, stylised ‘Shou’ (longevity) characters, lotus flowers and other auspicious motifs; the bowl bears a spurious Yongzheng mark, whilst the goblets bear a spurious Qianlong mark.
(Bowl: 2 hairline cracks, one small chip; two goblets with a hairline crack, two others with a chip)

Provenance: Passed down through the generations of a family of pharmacists from the Besançon region, who lived in Shanghai and then in Indochina between the 1920s and 1940s.
