VAN CLEEF & ARPELS ‘Shaggy Lion’ brooch in chiselled yellow gold (750‰). The nose is adorned with black enamel (missing), the eyes are set with round emeralds and the muzzle is pavé-set with brilliant-cut diamonds. French craftsmanship, circa 1960. Master’s hallmark of the jeweller PERY & Fils. Signed VCA, numbered. Dimensions: 4.5 x 3.3 cm. Gross weight: 24.3 g. The ‘Shaggy Lion’ is considered a ‘must-have’ for collectors of iconic jewellery from the Place Vendôme.
