First edition, dedicated to Abbé Juan Andrès, the King’s librarian and secretary of the Royal Academy of Naples. Each title page is adorned with a pretty vignette engraved by J. M. Véran: the Arch of Suze and the ancient Rostre. Aubin-Louis Millin (1759–1818) was an archaeologist, botanist and mineralogist; he undertook this journey through Italy from 1811 to 1813, and in his preface he announces a second volume devoted to Lombardy.
