This first edition guide describes Mediterranean coastal towns as attractive winter destinations, highlighting their geography, architecture and cultural significance. A descriptive and historical itinerary containing 4 maps and a plan, illustrated with 38 vignettes drawn from life by Hubert-Clerget. Élisée Reclus was a French geographer and anarchist activist. A Communard and anarchist theorist, he was an educator and a prolific writer. A member of the First International, he joined the Jura Federation following Michel Bakunin’s expulsion. Alongside Pierre Kropotkin and Jean Grave, he contributed to the newspaper *Le Révolté*. In October 1894, together with other resigning professors, he founded the Université nouvelle in Brussels. A pioneer of social geography, geopolitics, geohistory, environmentalism and ecology, he was also a vegetarian, a naturist, an advocate of free love and an Esperantist.
