Manuscript documents in French dating from the 17th century through to the First Empire and the Restoration, and one printed document. - Concerning a health certificate and the plague in Nice. Letter from Fréjus dated 16 January 1691. 1 page, in-8. Recommendation for a health certificate issued to Jean Guérin and Jean Fabre, who had arrived from Genoa, and the precautions to be taken in Nice. - An exceedingly respectful request from Father Pierre Giraud for a recommendation to enter the seminary in Grasse for his son, ‘who intends to take up the priestly vocation… ’, and what attire and ‘traditional’ garments he must provide, and regarding the albs, ‘they are expecting some very fine ones made of silk from Turin’. Letter dated 12? 1778. 1 page, 1/3. - Monaco, 7 Frimaire, Year 14 (28 Nov. 1805). Autograph signed letter from Louis Millo concerning the pending lawsuit at the court of Meaux between the Monaco heirs and General Santerre. ‘…Having every reason to believe that there will be no further obstacles, as the assets of the Monaco estate have now all been sold…’. Case concerning the land at Thorigny sold by compulsory purchase. - Certificate dated 15 January 1812, signed by Prefect Dubouchage in favour of Jena-Pierre Perni, born in Nice on 3 January 1792, who has complied with the conscription laws …that he took part in the conscription draw with the class of 1812 and that the draw assigned him a place in the depot. 1 page, in-8. - Naval pension. Two letters from 1812 concerning Mr Louche’s pension. From Paris, 13 February 1812: pension certificate, 1 page, in-4. From Villefranche, 10 March 1812: a handwritten letter signed by Louche, in which he requests intervention with the relevant department to secure payment (address and postmark on the envelope). - Comparative table of the new weights under the decimal system, in accordance with the decree of 13 Brumaire, Year 9. Folio-sized document, printed in Nice by the Typographical Society. Document preserved in a folded state; yellowed folds with missing sections; handwritten calculations on the reverse.
