CAVARII Avignon and Orange region 1st century BC Bust draped to the right, head bare. Behind the neck, an esse. In front, SEX.F. Grènetis. R/. Bull passing right. Base line beaded. Above, [T]POM. Grènetis. ♦ LT 4353 (Petrocores); Scheers (Lyon) 417 Bronze "T.POM/SEX.F. and bull". (1,85 g) Black patina. A very fine piece. These small bronzes, probably contemporary with the bronzes bearing the name of Germanus Indutillus (see under no. 312), bear the name of T. Pompeius Sextus filius, a member of the gens Pompeia whose name appears in numerous inscriptions in Gaul. JRC Collection
